Maximum overhaul

Hey everybody, good to be back.
I was just asked by Hunter if I was interested in reviving the beast that is Datai Forums. The answer is obviously a resounding yes but I was thinking about a couple of things.
First, I was thinking of possibly deleting a bunch of our old posts and whatnot so we can make the site easier to navigate for those of us who have been away.
Second, I wanted to add some more topics to expand what we can talk about without having to cram it all into the spam lounge.
I know I'm admin and could probably just do all this without posting a thing, but I wanted the opinions of anybody who still shows up around here. So just say what you think about it and we'll decide where to go.

Personally I think it's a great idea, especially since after people stopped showing up posts got really off topic and they were basically just conversations between whoever came back to look around since it never happened at the same time. Actually I only got the idea to start trying to do this from one of those posts but I still think it would be a good idea to get rid of everything and start over

I think there are certain conversations that should be preserved, even if in locked form.

But I'm all for deleting some of the more pointless threads that popped up recently.

And by recently, I mean within the last activity and now.

As for deleting posts though, I think we should delete all those stupid posts that have come up since the forum died, since they are all dumb and pointless, but I think we should preserve te old posts from when the forum was alive, they're memories, at least for me, as gay as that may sound.

Alright, all fair points. How does this sound. Anybody who wishes to spare a topic/discussion just post what it would be here and when I start the overhaul within the next couple of days I'll be sure to stay clear of it. Especially if more than one person has mentioned it. Sound good?

Sounds good. And any topics you think should be saved, go ahead and save them. I trust your good judgement.

EDIT: Also, Maximum Overdrive is a fucking AWESOME movie, assuming that's the reference in the threads title

For now you could just move all the old posts into a new section so you don't have to go through all of them at once

It'll be work either way. I'd rather just sit down on Saturday or Sunday and do it. So y'all have until then to submit posts/conversations/what have you. Anything mentioned by Saturday will be saved and reviewed further as a second wave type of thing.

Tomorrow I will be drawing us a new banner, and a few more to cycle through, as I was supposed to do a year or two ago.

If there is anything else I can do as far as the forum goes, let me know.

I thought of some thing. Maybe all the preserved threads should get locked and put in some "preservation" section so as to not be tampered with?

That's pretty much what Hekeshi's doing with the "Archive" section.

Yes, Hunter is dead on. That new section I added will be where I'm cramming all of the old conversations we save. Also, Something Cool, the games themselves will be kept and we can start new rounds but I'm more asking for specific topics that were memorable and should be preserved instead of starting them over. Most of the topics will still be around I'll just be starting them fresh.

Some threads have already been deleted, so I'm just picking a few select really funny ones to preserve.
